The Kinks – «Kinks» (1964)

Inicialmente considerados de segunda fila en relación con The Beatles y The Rolling Stones, los británicos The Kinks han sido reconocidos con el tiempo como una gran banda más, que recogía el espíritu del beat, las melodías pop y la actitud rock, y les añadía unas letras que brillaban por su notable ironía. En su disco de debut, «Kinks» (2 octubre 1964), se destapaban con un puñado de estupendos temas propios («So Mystifying», «Just Can’t Go To Sleep», «Revenge», «Stop Your Sobbing» o la magistral «You Really Got Me», reclamada incluso como germen del heavy por su riff rockero) junto con algunas versiones que mostraban sus referentes: Chuck Berry o Bo Diddley, entre otros.
